I drink from a broken glass

my heart cut up in pieces

Your coat still hangs

on the back of a chair

and your silence surrounds my soul!

My life a broken glass

I drink and never forget

let it cut me as I still hold on!

In the alley way of my neighbourhood

I don’t look or turn an eye

Every doorway has your shadow

every sidewalk echoes your footsteps!

The smoke from my cigarette

evaporates into thin air

but my heart doesn’t heal

it doesn’t forget!

Where can I go?

Where can I hide?

When everything reminds me of you!

If you could come back for a moment

to see what you have created!

Alone in silence

Like a piece of forgotten clothing

The ice drips slowly down the leaf

as my tears roll slowly

down my cheek

The autumn leaves

of yellow and teal

swirling around us

so surreal !

The lake whispers memories

of days gone by

sailing slowly and sipping wine

Underneath the ice blue sky

your ghost appears

dressed in white

My heart has made this picture real

as it floats and sparkles

until the heavens

it will reach

and in the clouds it will stay

sending rays of light

and sunny days!

Until the day that you return

and hand in hand

we leave this ethereal world!
